BIM lets us see a building before it is built. We resolve clashes between structure, services and architecture in the model rather than on site, take quantities and cost directly from it, and hand over an accurate digital record at completion. Decisions are made earlier, with better information, and the result is fewer surprises, less rework and tighter control of programme and budget.

We treat BIM as information management, not software — the philosophy behind ISO 19650, the international standard for managing information with BIM. Architectural, structural and MEP design are developed in a single, shared model environment, on a common basis rather than in parallel silos. The combined model is checked continuously as design develops, so conflicts between disciplines are found and resolved on screen — months before they would otherwise surface on site, where they cost real time and real money.

On site, the model becomes the management tool: construction is sequenced against it, progress and quality are tracked against it, and quantities and valuations are read from it. At completion the client receives more than a building — an accurate digital record of what was actually built, ready to support operating and maintaining the asset.
